On occasion, people will express the opinion that if so-and-so knew what has happened to their beloved corporation, institution, or sports team, they would be rolling over in their graves. You can fill in the name of virtually any entity that you wish with few exceptions. However, in the case of the Westchester County Bar Association (WCBA), I believe our founding fathers would be generally pleased and stationary in their crypts.

The WCBA’s Westchester Lawyer magazine is a monthly digital publication that features articles on timely legal topics and highlights the WCBA’s events and activities, continuing legal education opportunities, seminars and more. A link to the online Magazine is emailed monthly to attorney members, business affiliate members and top business professionals throughout Westchester. The 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association (ABA) convened in Toronto, Ontario, August 6–12, under the theme “Rule of Law Rising: Advancing Law in a Connected World.” The choice of Toronto underscored both the ABA’s longstanding ties with Canadian legal institutions and the increasingly cross-border nature of modern legal practice.

The kinds of businesses the Clinic works with are essential for rural economic development and food system resiliency, but they often struggle to access the legal services they need to remain viable. The Clinic plays a really important role here. A little-known fact about Pace Haub Law is that we have one of the largest food law faculties in the country. We use the Center to build our research capacity, to support students interested in careers in this area, and to engage with other law schools working on food law advocacy. 

During one of the defamation trials of Alex Jones about the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting, the parents’ attorney impeached Jones’ denials by using the digital history of his cell phone, years of texts proving scienter, and financials for his Infowars website.¹

Before John Jay became the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, the negotiator of the Jay Treaty, a Federalist writer, and indeed one of the founding fathers of our country, he was a practicing lawyer here in Westchester County. This was in the period from 1768 to 1776, when he was 23 to 31 years of age. The aim of this historical note is to examine the nature of his trial work in the county during this period.¹

The Uniform Rules contain a number of procedural directives which supplement those found in the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (“CPLR”). Among them is Uniform Rule 202.5(e) regarding the redaction of personal information in public court filings.
