Dorf Nelson & Zauderer LLP (DNZ) announces two new partners in the firm’s Litigation Department and Healthcare & General Liability Defense Group. Nicole T. Itkin joins the firm and Eleanor Makris has been elevated into the position.

Nicole T. Itkin represents clients in general and commercial litigation with a focus on medical malpractice, healthcare and professional liability matters, handling pre suit counseling, discovery, motion practice, and trials. She joined the firm after serving as Counsel at a civil litigation firm in New York.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Itkin spent more than 20 years with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, primarily as a trial assistant in the Homicide Bureau, where she tried over 50 cases to verdict. She is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

Eleanor Makris represents individual and institutional clients in medical malpractice and general liability cases. She has extensive experience in the defense and counseling of hospitals, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, mental health providers, and other senior level administrative healthcare professionals throughout New York State. As a former plaintiff’s lawyer and in her current role as a defense lawyer, Mrs. Makris has tried medical malpractice cases to verdict in New York State. She has experience in all stages of litigation and has handled the successful resolution of complex, high exposure medical malpractice claims.
