Public Interest Fellowship

In September 2007, the Foundation established a two-year public interest law fellowship. The Fellowship provides legal help to the county's underserved residents, and also provides training to a new lawyer who otherwise might not have the opportunity to do public interest work. Karen Maxim (nee Tenenbaum), a Harvard Law graduate, was the first Fellow, doing her work through Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. The second Fellow, hosted by My Sister's Place in White Plains, was Pace Law graduate Virginia Foulkrod. Read the Newsletter article about Virginia.

The third Fellow, hosted by Student Advocacy, was Pace Law graduate Darren Guild.  Read Darren's speech regarding the Fellowship from the 3rd Annual Foundation Benefit on November 14, 2013.

The fourth Fellow, Elizabeth Mastropolo, a St. John's Law graduate, was hosted by Pace Community Law Practice and worked with clients of Neighbors Link.

The fifth Fellow:  Jennifer Pacheco, worked for the Hudson Valley Justice Center in Yonkers from  2015 to 2017.

The sixth Fellow, Luis Leon, a Pace Law School graduate, began his fellowship in the fall of 2017, and now works at the Westchester Hispanic Coalition.  Luis serves the underprivileged in the areas of immigration law and family law.

All donations are deductible for Federal and New York State income, estate and gift tax purposes.  Most of the funds for the Foundation's projects come from members of the Westchester County Bar Association.  We ask that you give generously to this worthwhile project!
