Diversity Committee

What the Diversity Committee is about and how to join.

As our mission statement indicates our Committee works to promote the inclusion of all members in our association and to ensure that attorneys interested in our association will find it a welcoming place for all who join.  We assess the racial, gender, and ethnic composition of our membership to determine what areas are underrepresented.  For example, we have identified that women, while 40% of the legal profession, constitute approximately 25% of our membership.  At the same time while men are approximately 60% of the legal profession, they represent approximately 75% of our membership.

August 2013 Update:

New Sub-Committees welcome!

We encourage women and minorities to become more involved in the Association.  Many volunteers find their membership experience is enhanced through participation not only in attending the myriad of events and CLEs that our Association has to offer but also through work on committees and sections, our Foundation, and as officers and directors.

Professional associations, and the WCBA is certainly no exception, facilitate business opportunities for their memberships.  In turn as our clients becoming increasingly diverse we work to staff their legal work with attorneys who reflect that diversity.

Join us to share ideas, experiences and get involved in projects that enhance member experience.  Together we’re working to help grow practices, create networking opportunities, and increase the pool of active WCBA members whose bright legal minds, creativity, energy, and enthusiasm will build on the solid and proud foundation of our Association.  Attend a meeting, watch for our events, or call our Co-Chairs.  The Committee's Co-chairs are Jeanette Redmond and Evelyn Karen Beltran Join today for an even better tomorrow.  If interested, contact or call (914) 761-3707 ext. 10
