Hardship Policy

WCBA members may apply for a discount or scholarship to attend a program, based on financial hardship. Under this policy, any WCBA member who has a legitimate financial hardship may apply in writing for one of three options in lieu of full tuition payment.

CLE Through The WCBA

CLE Basics

CLE, or Continuing Legal Education, is an ideal way for attorneys to maintain their skills and to hone new ones and is mandatory in New York (MCLE) for ALL attorneys, both new and experienced. The WCBA is an accredited provider of New York State CLE classes and offers affordable, convenient sessions at numerous times and places concerning a wide variety topics of interest to our members.

A)  Experienced attorneys must complete a total of 24 accredited credit hours during each biennial reporting cycle (the two-year period between your attorney registrations). At least 4 of these credit hours must be in the Ethics and Professionalism category. The remaining credit hours may be in any category of credit.

B)  Newly admitted attorneys must complete at least 16 transitional credit hours in each of the first two years of admission to the Bar, as follows:

The first set of 16 transitional CLE credit hours must be completed by the first anniversary of admission to the Bar, in the designated categories of credit. The second set of 16 transitional CLE credit hours must be completed between the first and second anniversaries.
