Connect with WCBA President Dawn Kirby

Our president has become a Tweeter. As stated in her May 2014 President's Message in the Newsletter: Connecting and Communicating, "Twitter is an essential tool for making members feel connected and involved."

Please feel free to Tweet her at this address: @WCBAPresident.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR TWITTER
Signing up for Twitter is easy. Simply go to www.twitter.com, and look for the “Sign Up” box. Once you’ve entered your name, email address and a password, you will be taken to another screen to choose your username. You can choose any username you like, as long as it is available; prompts on the page will let you know. After you read the Twitter Terms of Service, and click Create Account, you will be taken to your initial page.

Follow the step-by-step prompts on the next few pages, and your initial account setup will be complete. After the initial setup, it is a good idea to take a look at the other settings available to you. Clicking the gear icon in the upper right of your Twitter home page will allow you to get into the other settings.
Make sure that the basic settings are correct, and take a close look at the Security and Privacy settings to confirm that you are comfortable with the settings. Note that in the privacy settings, you can change whether your tweets are public or only shared with those that you select.

One key area to make sure you complete is the bio section of your profile. Others will read your bio when deciding whether to follow you.
Once your settings are configured to your satisfaction, you are ready for your first tweet! Click on the compose icon at the upper right of the Twitter page to compose your first tweet.

USING TWITTER FOR BUSINESS BUILDING AND NETWORKING
Although most of Twitter’s growth has been in the personal space through its use by celebrities, athletes and other notables, over the past couple of years, Twitter has increasingly become a business networking tool. Here are some tips to use Twitter effectively in your practice for business building and networking.

These instructions are excerpted from the article Twitter for Your Practice in the March 2014 issue of the WCBA Newsletter. The author, Frank J. Ballatore, of The New England Computer Group, Inc., is a WCBA business member.
