Law Day Committee
May 1st marks the official day designated by the United States Congress as Law Day. The joint resolution recognizing Law Day reminds us that the basic principles of freedom and justice, which is the foundation of this country, are only possible with the governance of law. As such, law day provides a national forum where we celebrate that we are a nation governed by law. In many localities around the country Law Day has grown from a one day event to a week full of festivities.
Each year, The Westchester County Bar Association's Law Day Committee works with the community to demonstrate how the laws of the United States ensures our basic freedoms, liberty, and justice. In so doing, the bar association hosts the swearing of new US citizens at the Doranco Courthouse, honors the winners of their county-wide high school mock trial competition, and supports numerous community based outreach projects.
