Westchester County Bar Foundation

The Westchester County Bar Foundation, Inc. (“WCBF”), established in 1984, is the charitable arm of the Westchester County Bar Association.  Its goal is to contribute to the improvement of the administration of justice and to encourage a better public understanding of the law.

The Foundation also recognizes the outstanding service of non-judicial employees of the Ninth Judicial District through the Annual Joseph F. Gagliardi Award for Excellence, and, in conjunction with the WCBA, annually grants the Westchester County Bar Outstanding Law Student Award. This is a $3,000 annual scholarship to Pace Law School that is awarded each year to a second year law student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership ability and a commitment to public service.

In September 2007, the Foundation established a two-year public interest law fellowship. The Fellowship provides legal help to the county's underserved residents, and also provides training to a new lawyer who otherwise might not have the opportunity to do public interest work. Karen Tenenbaum, a Harvard Law graduate, was the first Fellow. The Fellowship is continuing under a partnership with Pace University Law School. The current Fellow, hosted by My Sister's Place in White Plains, is Virginia Foulkrod. Learn more about Karen, Virginia and the Fellowship program. Read the Newsletter article about Virginia.

All donations are deductible for Federal and New York State income, estate and gift tax purposes.  Most of the funds for the Foundation's projects come from members of the Westchester County Bar Association.  We ask that you give generously through a voluntary contribution when paying WCBA dues or through a separate contribution at any time during the year. Online donations are welcome -- please contribute.
