The purpose of the Trusts and Estates Section is to provide a forum to disseminate information and discuss substantive and procedural issues  in the field of Trusts and Estates, including Estate and Tax Planning, Estate Administration, and Surrogate's Court Practice.

Additionally, in conjunction with the Section's Surrogate's Court committee, the Surrogate, and corporate co-sponsors, the Section has continued to offer its series of "training" seminars for newly-appointed Guardians Ad Litem in Surrogate's Court.

The Section serves its members by providing high quality continuing legal education meetings as well as opportunities for members to meet with their peers and informally discuss issues that they have encountered with their clients.  Our programs are meant to update our members on recent developments in the trusts and estates arena as well as on the impact of changes in estate, gift, and income taxation.  Because our members have a wide range of experience in this field, we cater to both the novice attorney and the seasoned practitioner by presenting topics concerning basic estate planning and administration and drafting simple wills and trusts, as well as topics such as planning with irrevocable tusts, generation skipping trusts, and charitable remainder trusts.  We also have an annual presentation about litigations matters as they relate to all aspects of estate practice and administration.
